Saira Richardson, PLPC

Meet Saira

Saira has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri – Columbia and earned her Master’s of the Arts in Counseling from University of Missouri – Kansas City. She has an extensive history working with children in both clinical and educational settings as well as experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients. Her counseling interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, mindfulness, life transitions, and stress management.

Saira works to create a strong therapeutic relationship through meeting her clients where they are at and providing a supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. She views the counselor-client relationship as a collaborative one, allowing the client to set the pacing.

Saira uses a variety of modalities and evidence-based approaches with her older clients such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person-centered to aid in understanding and processing experiences affecting clients both physically and mentally.  Her work with children focuses on a child-centered approach, using play therapy methods and sand tray as this allows for children to express themselves and learn to self-regulate. She actively involves the caregivers in the client’s treatments through communication and psychoeducation to create a supportive foundation for both inside and outside of the therapeutic setting.

Saira is supervised by Allison Neeley, LPC and Mariah Keathley. LPC
